Technology Overview

What is an Enterprise Facial Recognition System?

An enterprise facial recognition system uses deep-learning AI to instantly identify individuals by analysing unique facial geometry - the distances between eyes, nose, mouth, and jawline - and matching them against a registered template database in milliseconds. Unlike passwords or access cards, a face cannot be forgotten, stolen, or shared.

Tektronix Technologies deploys facial recognition for three primary use cases across Saudi Arabia: physical access control (replacing swipe cards at doors), visitor identification (screening against watchlists at reception), and time & attendance (eliminating buddy-punching at employee clocking stations).

  • Touchless & hygienic - no card contact, no fingerprint swipes, no shared surfaces
  • Hands-free, high-throughput - process 30-60 persons per minute at main entrances
  • Credential-free - no card to issue, manage, or replace when employees join or leave
  • Anti-tailgating integration - works with speed gates to enforce one-person-per-verification

Access Control

Replace cards with face-based entry. Instant recognition at any door, turnstile, or gate barrier.

Visitor Screening

Auto-match visitor faces against watchlists and pre-registered VMS records at reception kiosks.

Time & Attendance

Eliminate buddy-punching with face-verified clocking. Integrates with SAP HR, Oracle, and payroll systems.

Video Analytics

Real-time face matching against CCTV streams for security monitoring and forensic investigation.

  • HID, Lenel, Genetec native SDKs
  • Speed gate & turnstile integration
How It Works

From Face to Access in Under 0.3 Seconds

01

Enrolment

Employee or visitor face is captured during onboarding - via kiosk, webcam, or HR photo import. The AI engine generates an encrypted 512-dimensional biometric template. No raw image is stored.

02

Live Capture

When a person approaches the reader, the dual-camera system captures their face in both visible light and NIR spectrum. Liveness detection confirms a live person is present, not a photo or mask.

03

AI Matching

The live face template is compared against the enrolled database using the deep learning engine. A confidence score is generated in under 100ms. Only matches above the configured threshold are accepted.

04

Access Decision

The access control system receives the verified identity and checks the person's access rights for that door, time, and zone. The door relay is triggered - access granted or denied - in under 300ms total.

05

Event Logging

Every access event - including the confidence score, timestamp, door, and identity - is logged in the access control audit trail. Photos are optionally captured for compliance and forensic review.

Industry Applications

Facial Recognition Across Every Saudi Arabia Sector

Corporate Offices

Replace all card swipes with face-based entry across executive floors, server rooms, and parking garages. Time & attendance integration eliminates paper clocking in large workforce environments.

Government & Ministries

Classified zone access, personnel identification, and anti-tailgating at ministerial buildings and sensitive facilities. Air-gapped deployment ensures biometric data remains within facility perimeters.

Healthcare

Pharmacy, ICU, and drug storage access restricted to authorised clinical staff - verified by face even when gloved and masked. HIPAA-aligned audit trails for regulatory inspections.

Data Centres

Cage, suite, and cold-aisle access controlled by face verification - eliminating shared PINs in Tier III/IV data centres. Every access event tied to a verified identity for compliance reporting.

Airports & Transport

Airside and sterile zone access for airport staff. Integration with departure control systems and watchlist databases for real-time passenger identity verification at boarding gates.

Oil & Gas Facilities

Worker site access, contractor verification, and restricted zone control across refineries, offshore platforms, and petrochemical plants - even in harsh outdoor Saudi environments.

Privacy & Compliance

PDPL & NCSC-Aligned Facial Recognition

Biometric data is among the most sensitive personal information under Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and international regulations. Tektronix Technologies implements a privacy-by-design architecture ensuring all facial recognition deployments are legally compliant and ethically responsible.

  • No raw image storage - only encrypted mathematical templates retained
  • Informed consent - enrolment workflows include explicit user consent capture
  • Data residency - all biometric data stored on-premises within Saudi Arabia
  • Right to erasure - instant template deletion per PDPL data subject requests
  • NCSC KSA cybersecurity controls - encrypted databases, RBAC, and comprehensive audit logging

FAQ

Facial Recognition Questions Answered

How accurate is enterprise facial recognition for access control?
Enterprise-grade facial recognition systems deployed by Tektronix Technologies achieve 99.9%+ accuracy under controlled entry conditions, with False Acceptance Rates (FAR) below 0.0001% and False Rejection Rates (FRR) below 0.1%. Accuracy is maintained across different lighting conditions, face coverings (partial masks), and aging variations through continuous AI model updates.
Can facial recognition work with masks or face coverings?
Yes. Modern enterprise facial recognition systems use deep learning models trained specifically on partially obscured faces. Our solutions can accurately identify registered users wearing surgical masks, full-face coverings with visible eyes, or glasses with recognition rates exceeding 97% - critical for healthcare and Saudi environments where face coverings are common.
What is liveness detection and why is it important?
Liveness detection (also called anti-spoofing) prevents attackers from using a photo, video, or 3D-printed face mask to trick the facial recognition system. Our enterprise systems use multi-frame depth sensing, infrared imaging, and AI-based challenge-response liveness tests to ensure only a live human face can authenticate - achieving ISO 30107-3 Level 2 compliance.
How does facial recognition integrate with existing access control systems?
Tektronix Technologies' facial recognition devices interface with major access control platforms via Wiegand, RS-485 OSDP, or TCP/IP API integration. Compatible platforms include HID Aero, Lenel OnGuard, Software House C•CURE 9000, Genetec Security Center, Honeywell Pro-Watch, and Milestone XProtect. We handle complete integration, commissioning, and user enrolment.
Is facial recognition compliant with PDPL and Saudi NCSC privacy requirements?
Yes. Tektronix Technologies implements facial recognition with full data privacy compliance: biometric templates are stored as encrypted mathematical models (not raw images), data retention policies align with Saudi PDPL requirements, access to biometric databases is role-restricted with full audit trails, and all processing can be configured on-premises to keep biometric data within Saudi Arabia.
What is the difference between a facial recognition terminal and face ID access control on a standard door reader?
A dedicated facial recognition terminal is a standalone device with its own screen, camera array, and processor for face recognition door access - typically used at main entrances and turnstiles. Face ID access control can also be embedded into a slimmer wall-mounted reader for standard interior doors. Tektronix Technologies specifies the right form factor per door based on throughput and security tier.
Can facial recognition be used for face recognition attendance and time tracking?
Yes. The same facial recognition terminal used for door access can double as a facial recognition time attendance system - logging clock-in/clock-out events automatically as employees pass through access-controlled doors, with attendance data exportable to HR and payroll systems. This removes the need for a separate face recognition attendance device at entrances already fitted with facial recognition door access.
