FAQ
Thermal CCTV Surveillance - FAQ
What is the advantage of thermal cameras over standard optical cameras at night?
Thermal cameras detect heat signatures rather than relying on ambient or infrared illumination, so they continue to reliably detect people and vehicles in total darkness, smoke, or dust conditions where optical cameras, even with IR illuminators, lose effective range.
How does auto-tracking PTZ work with perimeter sensors?
When a PIDS sensor such as fiber, radar, or LiDAR raises an alarm at a known coordinate, the PSIM platform automatically commands the nearest PTZ camera to slew to that position, giving the operator immediate visual confirmation without manually searching the perimeter.
Does HCIS SEC-03 specify minimum camera coverage requirements?
HCIS SEC-03 sets out security systems requirements for industrial facilities including CCTV coverage expectations, which are applied according to the facility's HCIS classification; Tektronix designs camera placement and overlap specifically to meet the applicable class requirement for each project.
